Kitchen Experiments

Cooking, Baking...creating food... is an art. Some, may not look so pretty, but they're all learning experiences.

This biscuit is so easy to make and it is the perfect compliment to Laura Ann's Jams Strawberry Vanilla Jam. (Trust me, you need this in your life)

Quick and Lazy Breakfast Biscuit

*measurements are approximate*

1 cup Self Rising Flour

2 Tbsp Cold or Frozen Butter

1/4 cup Cold Milk

(It really depends on consistency, feel free to add more or less)

Parchment paper & cookie sheet

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Add flour to bowl

Chop up butter into chunks and add them in

Pour milk into bowl until consistency is doughy. If its wet, add flour... if it's too dry, add a splash of milk

Put big ball of dough on cookie sheet in the middle of the parchment paper, put in oven

Bake until golden brown ( if butter oozes out of the biscuit, tilt the sheet until it soaks back in so you don't waste it)

Top with your favorite Laura Ann's Jam!

This was the greatest way to use up browning bananas, I started with a yellow cake recipe like this one:

Yellow Cake from Scratch

but I added like four overripe bananas and used butter in lieu of shortening.

Cut it down the middle and added more Laura Ann's Jams Strawberry Vanilla Jam.

THEN I made a buttercream glaze and added more jam to THAT!

It. Was. Heavenly.

Made a 10lb Pork Butt with the following recipe: Bo Ssam

from David Chang of Momofuku... but I added the brown sugar to the original curing as well as the white sugar by mistake-- then added more brown sugar when it was called for. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Roll over the photo to see some awesome tacos made with the meat!
